COVID-19 Updates

June 15, 2021

Belle River Soccer Family,

As the province continues to remove restrictions, we continue to plan towards soccer getting back to normal.  Unfortunately, despite having entered Step 1 of Ontario’s “Roadmap to Recovery”, we remain unable to offer a house league program at this time.  The Government has not yet provided any specific guidelines to assist with our planning for when we enter Step 2.  Once we receive the guidelines for Step 2, we will share the club’s intentions.  We would like to thank you all for your patience as we wait to hopefully begin some kind of a season. We are all excited to get kids back on the field and we will continue to work towards providing a fun, safe program for everyone.

Please stay tuned to our website for details

Our government has released a new staged return to normal plan, but what does that mean to organized soccer?  Great question!  We are also unsure, but we have been in contact with Ontario Soccer and our ECSA district office.  At this time, we are still not permitted to run house league soccer in stage 1.  In the coming days we hope to have some clarity on what this will mean for us.  Our board will work with our governing bodies and work towards getting players back on the fields, as that is what we all want.  To get back to normal!!  So at this point we will continue to keep the grass cut and the fields looking as best we can, while waiting for the sounds of excited little kickers on our fields.

No matter what happens this year, we remain committed to getting all 1200 of our players along with their families back onto our fields for a normal soccer season next year.

The kids are missing the sport and we miss seeing those crazy kids running all over our fields!!!

The Belle River Soccer Board continues to regularly meet to discuss our return to play.  With the current “stay at home” order, the earliest we will be able to get anyone on our fields won’t be until early May.

Our return to play must be in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Ontario Soccer Association.  Travel teams may begin individual skills training when the region returns to “red”.  In order for us to run a house league program, the region must be in “orange” at which time restrictions will limit the number of players, coaches, referees, and spectators permitted in each division as well as on our fields at any given time.  Further restrictions may include, but are not limited to; social distancing, hand sanitizing, mask wearing, and contact tracing.

At this point, it is realistic to say that we will not be able to begin our house league program until mid-June.  Additionally, running the house league program under these guidelines will require an increased need for help from volunteers.  With many of our board members already coaching or managing travel or house league teams, our club is going to need to rely heavily on volunteers to provide the additional adult supervision imposed by the above mentioned restrictions.

If you or someone you know can volunteer your time to assist with house league field duties, please email belleriversoccerinfo@gmail.com.

Please continue to monitor www.belleriversoccer.com for updates.  Our 2021 registration links will also be posted there as soon as we can confirm the season is a go.  We hope to have everyone back on our fields soon!

Sincerely,

Belle River Soccer

Dear Belle River Soccer Family,

Thank you to everyone who took time to complete our survey last month.  We are pleased to see that so many of you are looking forward to getting back on the fields this spring.

We remain optimistic that we will be able to offer a full house league (U4-U18 and adult co-ed) and travel league this spring/summer.  Our return to play is in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Ontario Soccer Association.  As our region enters the “red” zone, we remain hopeful that come spring we will be back playing soccer.

We may need to implement some changes to our program, but we know how important it is to get our kids and our adults back out playing soccer in Belle River.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate these challenging times.

Please continue to monitor http://www.belleriversoccer.com for updates.  Our 2021 registration links will also be posted there as soon as we can confirm the season is a go.  We can’t wait to see you all out there!

For those who deferred their 2020 registration, your commitment to the club is greatly appreciated.  We have your names and you will be the first added to our 2021 player list.  You can expect to hear more details on this in the coming month.

Sincerely,

Belle River Soccer

Dear Belle River Soccer Family,

With the ringing in of 2021, the Belle River Soccer Board would like to thank all our members for standing by our side this past year. No one could have ever anticipated a year without our house league or travel soccer programs. We were pleased in our ability to get most of our travel players and coaches back on the fields in a modified training format from July to December.

Typically, registration is well underway with the start of the new year .  Given current stay-at-home orders and the provincial emergency declaration, we have opted to keep our registration process closed at this time.

We assure you that planning has begun for the upcoming 2021 season and we are eager to get each and every one of you back to our beloved sport.  Our registration site has been updated, timelines have been drafted, and contingencies are being reviewed.  We remain optimistic in our 2021 season.

Please continue to monitor http://www.belleriversoccer.com for updates.  A link to our registration pages will be published on our homepage when registration opens up.

Sincerely,

Belle River Soccer

Dear Belle River Soccer Family,

We are sorry to announce that Belle River Soccer House League has been cancelled for the 2020 spring/summer season. We have been following the directives of Ontario Soccer, and although the government has recently announced that certain regions may resume training for outdoor team sports where physical distancing is maintained, Windsor-Essex County was not included as one of those regions.

Regions in Phase 2 may begin to follow Ontario Soccer’s Return to Play Guide. The guide is a phased in return to play where training while physical distancing is allowed but where scrimmages and games shall NOT be permitted. Unfortunately, the latest timelines for transitioning to Phase 2 do not include enough summer weeks to run a full house league soccer season.

At this time, the ECSL travel season has not been cancelled and information will be provided as we receive it.

We look forward to getting our younger and older house league players back on our fields next spring (we might even consider a fall league – keep checking our website).

For those having already paid for the 2020 house league season, the club will honour those player registrations in the 2021 season with a guarantee that their fees will not increase should it be necessary to raise our fees. Should registration in the 2021 season not be feasible, we will be waiving the March 31st deadline for refund requests as outlined under the Refund Policy section of our House League web page.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors! A complete list of 2020 sponsors can be found on our Current Sponsors page, and we remind everyone to support our local community businesses whenever possible.

Thank you to our volunteer coaches! We thank all those who had already volunteered to coach one of our teams this year. The league is unable to run without our volunteers, and your dedication to providing soccer in our community does not go unnoticed.

Stay safe.

Dear Belle River Soccer Family,

To help in our planning and to better understand your views on key topics, we invite all our members to complete the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RHK9X9M

We continue to follow the directives of Ontario Soccer, who have recently extended their suspension of all sanctioned in-person soccer events and activities. Suspension of events for Belle River Soccer will now extend through the month of June. All soccer clubs of ECSA have been communicating regularly and are prepared to run a season for July & August should we be permitted. If ECSA soccer clubs are unable to run soccer this season, all registration fees will transfer over to next season.

As we all continue to practice social distancing and good hygiene, there has been plenty of time to focus on the upcoming season. Despite the need to adjust schedules and special events, we remain committed to running a full season of soccer for both our house league and travel players.

Until we can get back on the fields, there are a few topics we wanted to share:

  1. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors! A complete list of 2020 sponsors can be found on our Current Sponsors page, and we remind everyone to support our local community businesses whenever possible.

  2. Registration for 2020 House League remains closed until further notice.

  3. We are always on the lookout for coaches. If you, or someone you know is interested in coaching, please e-mail us at belleriversoccerinfo@gmail.com

  4. If you are worried that you may be missing out on our COVID-19 e-mails, we post all our COVID-19 updates to our website at http://www.belleriversoccer.com/covid-19/ and have also put together some tips for staying connected.

Stay safe.

March 27, 2020

To our valued Belle River Soccer Members,

We hope you are all well and following the directives of our Prime Minister.

Stay at home. Go out only when necessary. Wash your hands frequently.

As an organization, we are following the directives of Ontario Soccer who has mandated that all soccer be suspended until the end of April.

In the upcoming weeks, we will be monitoring the development of this unique situation. Please be reassured that we are committed to providing your son or daughter with a fun soccer experience in the months ahead. We are investigating all possibilities and considering creative ideas to deal with the variety of possibilities that may lay before us.

Because of the unknown, at this time we will be temporarily closing online registration. Once we are able to assess our options and make decisions, we will reopen online registration and notify you of all timelines. For those who have already registered, please be patient. Your fees are secure and we will make every effort to provide you with the experience you registered for.

For athletes registered with our travel programs, ECSL also hopes to run their season, even if it has a delayed start date or a modified schedule. They will be keeping us updated once they are able to assess and make decisions. Travel players will hear directly from their coaches with regards to the ECSL season.

Stay safe.

Dear Belle River Soccer Family,

The Ontario Soccer Association has issued a directive that all soccer activities in Ontario be suspended immediately and until further notice. At this time, our online registration will remain open. If you or your child intend on playing soccer this season, we encourage you to register today, as we are still planning for a great soccer season. As more information becomes available to us, we will keep you updated.

We anticipate that our season will run as usual and no one will miss out on a full season of soccer fun.
